  • Prototype information

Starting in 1905, the Royal Bavarian State Railroad (K.Bay.Sts.B.) purchased a series of class PtL 2/2 tank locomotives for use on branch lines. A special feature of these units was the glassed in engineer's cab that almost completely surrounded the boiler and gave the locomotive its nickname "Glaskasten" / "Glass Box".
