Product description
Model: Era III. The locomotive and tender are constructed of die-cast metal. The locomotive has a powerful can motor with a bell-shaped armature and flywheel, in the boiler. The locomotive also has an NEM digital connector in the tender. 5 axles powered through side rods. 4 traction tires. The locomotive has a close coupler on the tender and a close coupling between the locomotive and tender. Length over the buffers 145 mm / 5-11/16".

Prototype information
The class 52.80 was derived from the class 52 wartime locomotive as part of the reconstruction program on the German State Railroad in East Germany. Two hundred units were equipped starting in 1960 at East German maintenance facilities with the new boilers from the class 50.35 with mixer pre-heaters. The "Reko" locomotives turned in good results into the Eighties and made up the backbone of steam operation in East Germany. Several units have remained preserved even after the end of the steam locomotive era (1987 on the DR) and are still in use today on museum railroads.
