  • Product description

Model: Era III. The locomotive has a compact design, controlled C-Sine high-efficiency propulsion with a DCC/Selectrix decoder and a sound generator. 3 axles powered. Traction tires. The tender is made of metal. There is a close coupling between the locomotive and tender that can be adjusted for different curves. The locomotive is ready for installation of a 7226 smoke generator. The locomotive has LED triple headlights that change over with the direction of travel and a smoke generator contact. Both will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. The locomotive has a whistle sound and steam locomotive operating sounds. The sound of air compressors working, the flickering light of the firebox, the sound of brakes squealing, and a short whistle blast can be controlled with Trix Systems. Three additional sound functions (the sound of steam being let off, the sound of coal being shoveled, and the sound of the grate being shaken) can be activated with the Trix Systems Central Station to be delivered in the future. There is a close coupler with a guide mechanism and an NEM coupler pocket on the tender. Minimum radius for operation 360 mm / 14-3/16". Length over the buffers 275 mm / 10-13/16".

This model can be found in the Märklin assortment in an AC version under item no. 39015. The 23400, 23401, 23402, 23403, and 23404 DB express train passenger cars as well as the 23414 car set go well with this locomotive.

  • Prototype information

The two-cylinder class 01 locomotives were delivered starting in 1925 as the first express locomotives from the German State Railroad's standard design program. Of the total of 231 units placed into service, those locomotives with road numbers from 01 102 on had reinforced brakes and front pilot truck wheels with a diameter of 1,000 mm / 39-3/8". This allowed the maximum speed to be increased from 120 to 130 km/h / 75 to 81 mph.
