1979: The DB introduced the Intercity with first and second class seating under the motto "Evey Hour - Every Class". In first class the IC supplement was DM 10.00, in second class DM 5.00. The deep red / cream and ocean blue / cream colored trains were a daily feature of long distance service in Germany until well into the 1980s.
